Scholarship Polices & Procedures for Graduate Students - Alfaisal University

Alfaisal University has many scholarship programs available to students that are Merit-based (excellence in academic performance) and Financial need-based. The following outlines the scholarship opportunities available to new students applying to Alfaisal, please note that scholarships are yearly based and being awarded by the beginning of each academic year. 1.Need-Based Scholarships

A- King Faisal Foundation Scholarships "Prince Sultan Program"

King Faisal Foundation offers scholarships program to help the outstanding students who have financial difficulties from all countries to achieve their academic goals based on the following criteria:

Criteria for Master Programs:

Student must confirm his admission acceptance (paying seat confirmation fees and submitting the original documents). Providing a proof of financial need & academic achievements as an additional factor:

Special skills, talents or social creative ideas will be taken into consideration. Priority will be given to students with special skills, talents or social creative ideas.

Scholarships Coverage (of Tuition Fees):

Master: 100%

Required Documents:

  • Fill in "Need-Based E-Form" and upload it to the Online Admission Application.
  • Salary certificate stamped and signed from work place.
  • Copy of the job contract.
  • Private sector Employees: Salary statement provided by General Organization of Social Insurance (GOSI)
  • Unemployed master students: upload two proofs of unemployment, one from Civil Affairs (Absher services) and the other from General Organization of Social Insurance (GOSI).
  • Family ID card for Saudis, and copy of each family member ID for Non-Saudis.
  • (Optional) providing a proof of the special skills or talents (i.e.; arts, sports, or any other nonacademic talents) by uploading a certificate of participation in any event or exhibition.


Important Remarks

  • Applying for this scholarship does not mean being awarded; scholarships seats and funds are limited. Only top students will be awarded based on the above criteria and the availability of seats and funds.
  • All applications will be thoroughly reviewed and evaluated. Scholarships final results require the approval of multiple parties, which might delay the final results. Therefore, Alfaisal University will not be held liable for any delay.
  • Students cannot get both Need-Based & Merit-Based scholarships at the same time.
  • Office of Research & Graduate Studies will evaluate your performance (CGPA) by the end of every Fall & Spring semester. If a student fails to attain a cumulative GPA of 3.85 out of 4.00 by the end of any of the two semesters, the scholarship will be terminated immediately.
  • Summer semester tuition fees are not covered by the scholarship.

b. University Scholarships for Thesis Program Students

Thesis-based graduate programs are an essential factor in allowing Alfaisal University to achieve its vision to be a world-class research university. Supporting the finest students so that they can focus and excel in their studies and research is thus vital to the success of the institution. Numerous students have graduated from the thesis based programs and many scientific papers have been published. Times Higher Education (THE) 2017 ranked Alfaisal University in the top 200 of the best young universities in the world under 50 years old. University Scholarships for Thesis Program Students are designed to help self-funded graduate students to stay in university in order to complete their program. The selection process, & the number & value of the Scholarships will be determined by ORG in consultation with RGC, Finance Office and Senior University Administration.

Criteria:

  • Support is provided for thesis option programs only.
  • Scholarships will cover from 20%-50%of the Tuition Fees over two years.
  • Scholarships are only for students who do not have grants from another sponsor
  • Thesis students must apply for KACST graduate research grants funds.

Scholarships Coverage (of Tuition Fees):

Master: from 20%-50%
  • 50% GPA required from 3.20-4.00
  • 30% GPA required from 3.00-3.19
  • 20% GPA required from 2.75-2.99

The following table shows the minimum criteria for nomination for Merit-Based scholarship of bachelor degree students. However, meeting these criteria does not mean being awarded a scholarship as the scholarship seats and funds are limited. Only top students will be awarded based on the below criteria and the available seats and funds.

Application Process:

Merit Scholarships will start during the 2nd year of your studies. You don't need to apply by the beginning of the second year if you meet the criteria you will automatically be nominated.

Scholarships Coverage (of Tuition Fees):

Master: 20% - 50%

Important Remarks:

1. Scholarships fund is limited; being nominated for a scholarship doesn't mean being awarded a scholarship, priority will be given to students with the highest scores.
2. Student cannot get both Need & Merit-Based scholarships at the same time.
3. Faculty recommendation will increase your chances to be awarded.
