Scholarship Polices for Graduate Student

Alfaisal has many scholarship programs available to students that are Merit-based (excellence in academic performance) and Financial need-based. The following outlines the scholarship opportunities available to new students applying to Alfaisal, please note that scholarships are yearly based and being awarded by the beginning of each academic year.

Need-Based Scholarships, (King Faisal Foundation Scholarships "Prince Sultan Program")

King Faisal Foundation offers scholarships program to help the outstanding students who have financial difficulties3 from all countries to achieve their academic goals based on the following criteria:

Criteria Master:

Student must confirm his admission acceptance (paying seat confirmation fees and submitting the original documents) no later than 26/06/2016.

Providing a proof of financial need
Academic Achievements as an additional factor:

Master Program Qudurat GRE or GMAT TOEFL GPA
MBA NA 155 or 600 7.5 3.85
All other Programs 90 NA 7.5 3.85

- Special skills, talents or social creative ideas will be taken into consideration.
Priority will be given to students with special skills, talents or social creative ideas

Application Process:

Fill in the (Need-Based) e-form available on the Online Admission Application

Scholarships Coverage (of Tuition Fees):

Master: 100%

Required Documents:

  • Fill in "Need-Based E-Form" and upload it to the Online Admission Application
  • Salary certificate stamped and signed from work place.
  • Copy of the job contract.
  • Private sector Employees: Salary statement provided by General Organization of Social Insurance (GOSI)
  • Unemployed master students: upload two proofs of unemployment, one from Civil Affairs (Absher services) and the other from General Organization of Social Insurance (GOSI).
  • Family ID card for Saudis, and copy of each family member ID for Non-Saudis.
  • (Optional) providing a proof of the special skills or talents (i.e.; arts, sports, or any other nonacademic talents) by uploading a certificate of participation in any event or exhibition.

Important Remarks

  • Applying for this scholarship does not mean being awarded; scholarships seats and funds are limited. Only top students will be awarded based on the above criteria and the availability of seats and funds.
  • All applications will be thoroughly reviewed and evaluated. Scholarships final results require the approval of multiple parties, which might delay the final results. Therefore, Alfaisal University will not be held liable for any delay.
  • Students cannot get both Need-Based & Merit-Based scholarships at the same time.
  • Office of Research & Graduate Studies will evaluate your performance (CGPA) by the end of every Fall & Spring semester. If a student fails to attain a cumulative GPA of 3.85 out of 4.00 by the end of any of the two semesters, the scholarship will be terminated immediately.
  • Summer semester tuition fees are not covered by the scholarship.

Merit-Based Scholarships, (Alfaisal University Scholarships):

Criteria:
The following table shows the minimum criteria for nomination for Merit-Based scholarship of bachelor degree students. However, meeting these criteria does not mean being awarded a scholarship as the scholarship seats and funds are limited. Only top students will be awarded based on the below criteria and the available seats and funds.

Application Process:
Merit Scholarships will start during the 2nd year of your studies. You don't need to apply by the beginning of the second year if you meet the criteria you will automatically be nominated.

Scholarships Coverage (of Tuition Fees):
Master: 20% - 50%

Important Remarks:
  1. Scholarships fund is limited; being nominated for a scholarship doesn't mean being awarded a scholarship, priority will be given to students with the highest scores.
  2. Student cannot get both Need & Merit-Based scholarships at the same time.
  3. Faculty recommendation will increase your chances to be awarded.


Al Anoud Foundation Scholarships (for 3 years):

Scholarships Coverage (of Tuition Fees):

Master: 100%

Important Remarks
  1. You don't need to apply if you meet the criteria you will automatically be selected.
  2. Student must not be employee
  3. Students will be paid stipends
  4. During the first 2 years student will be employed at the University for 30 hr / week
  5. Year 3 the student will be employed full time at the university to work in Research

Duration of Scholarship

The student must maintain scholarship requirements throughout his study to sustain the scholarship. The scholarship will start after the first semester and will continue for 3 semesters.
