The Saline Water Conversion Corporation (SWCC) is a Saudi government corporation that is responsible for desalinating sea water in order to supplement the supply of potable water to arid coastal and inland cities in the Kingdom. The amount of desalinated water produced by the SWCC's 30 plants in 2007, for example, was 1,066 million cubic meters. The Corporation is also the second largest electrical power producer in the Kingdom.
Alfaisal University has proposed training courses for SWCC staff to be run in English by Alfaisal University faculty. In addition, the development of the Alfaisal undergraduate curriculum will be enhanced through enrichment of courses with case studies from SWCC as well as a proposed internship training program for students at SWCC facilities. Alfaisal faculty members will also be collaborating with SWCC staff on R&D projects relevant to the Kingdom.
