Research Themes

The Office of Research & Innovation utilizes themes as a guide in its mission to provide excellent and versatile world-class research and innovation services that contribute to serving society and achieving sustainable development using the University's resources and strategic partnerships. The Alfaisal University Research Themes are based on the country’s Vision 2030, The National Priorities in Research & Innovation, as well as the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The research themes are closely aligned with the relevant ministries in terms of both strategic goals as well as possible funding sources for faculty for their R&D projects. Each research theme has sub-themes that help to focus on specific goals. For example, the theme “Energy Systems” has sub themes focusing on “Innovation in circular economy”, “Technologies for smart and micro-grids” and “Advanced energy production and management technologies”.
